Mark Hardy is a Tattoo Artist from Sheffield, England, currently living in Toronto, Canada. Having made the decision to get a tattoo when he was 18, Mark became fascinated with the artform. After obtaining a degree in English he went on to work with children with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
January 2007, Mark moved to Toronto to marry Bethany, and spent a year interning at Toronto Airport Christian Fellowship. When the internship was up, he was given a job in marketing, where he spent a lot of time working with video, and graphic design. His interest in tattooing increased, and he began to take steps to becoming an artist himself.
Mark absorbed as much information as he could from artists around the city, attended a number of tattoo conventions in Toronto and Montreal, and began drawing in all his spare time. He spent hours tattooing himself, and then, under the guidance of some good friends, who were well established artists, began to tattoo others.
Mark is a born again Christian. He sees tattooing as a form of worship, and seeks to glorify God through his work. Much of his work is directly inspired by his faith. To find out more about his views on Christianity and tattooing, check out his blog.
Beyond his interest in the history of tattooing, and its place in today's culture, Mark loves to work on old school Americana designs, and particularly enjoys drawing up and inking clients with custom work. After gaining some shop experience, Mark opened a private studio in Toronto. In the Deeper Than War studio space clients are encouraged to bring a friend, relax, be themselves and get to know Mark during their session.
